Appearance
A small pufferfish with a rounded body and distinctive narrow vertical lines running along the sides (hence the common name). Coloration typically yellow-tan to beige with darker striping patterns. The fish has small eyes and a small mouth adapted for feeding on small invertebrates.
Diet and feeding
Primarily a carnivore feeding on small crustaceans, copepods, amphipods, and small mollusks. In the aquarium, offer frozen mysis shrimp, copepod-rich foods, and small meaty preparations multiple times daily to sustain their high metabolism.

This is a challenging species best suited for experienced aquarists. It requires precise water quality, a specialized diet of small crustaceans, and careful tankmate selection due to its nipping behavior and toxin production when stressed.
