Appearance

A striking lionfish with red and white banded body coloration, fan-like pectoral fins with elongated venomous spines, and a compressed body shape. Venomous dorsal and pectoral fin spines are characteristic of the genus.

Diet and feeding

Feed live or pre-killed feeder fish (small silversides, gobies, or shrimp) 2–3 times per week. May refuse frozen foods initially but can sometimes be trained to accept them with patience.
