Elongated, slender body (up to 100 cm) with silver-gray dorsal side fading to white ventrally. Distinctive dark blotches on lower flanks and a prominent black stripe along midline.

Origin and habitat
Roa modesta is naturally found in the eastern Pacific Ocean, primarily along the coastlines of Mexico and Central America, particularly in shallow waters from the intertidal zone down to approximately 50 meters depth.
