Appearance
A small butterflyfish with white to pale yellow coloration, distinctive dark vertical bands crossing the body, and a darker face mask. Marcella butterflyfish display elegant symmetrical patterns and a compressed body typical of the genus Prognathodes.
Diet and feeding
In captivity, offer a varied diet of high-quality prepared foods including small marine flakes, small pellets, and frozen foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and finely chopped meats. Supplement with zooplankton-rich foods to mimic their natural diet of small crustaceans and benthic organisms. Feed 2-3 times daily in small portions.
