Appearance

A small, deep-bodied basslet with a distinctive red and white striped pattern. The body is predominantly red with white vertical bands, and possesses a mitre-shaped head profile characteristic of the genus.

Diet and feeding

Feed small meaty foods such as frozen copepods, mysis shrimp, and finely minced marine flesh. Offer food 2–3 times daily in small portions. May require live food initially to trigger feeding response.
