Appearance
A small puffer with a rounded body that reaches about 3.5 inches maximum. Coloration is tan to yellowish-brown with distinctive dark saddle-like blotches on the back and a pattern resembling the larger saddle puffer (Canthigaster valentini), which it mimics for protection. The body lacks the prominent spines of some pufferfishes.
Diet and feeding
In captivity, feed small meaty foods including frozen-thawed shrimp, mysis shrimp, and finely chopped seafood. Supplement with herbivorous items like nori-based foods. Feed 1-2 times daily in smaller portions suitable for a small fish. May nip at some invertebrates and soft corals.
