Appearance
Small butterflyfish with yellow coloration and distinctive black spots covering the body and fins, resembling millet seeds (hence the common name). The body is laterally compressed with a pointed snout typical of the genus Chaetodon. Reaches approximately 5 inches in length.
Diet and feeding
In captivity, feed a varied diet of high-quality flaked foods, small pellets, and regularly supplemented live or frozen foods such as copepods and mysis shrimp. They naturally graze on small crustaceans and zooplankton, so frequent small feedings mimic their natural feeding behavior.
