Appearance

A slender, elongated moray eel with a dark gray or brown body densely covered in cream to yellowish spots and reticulations, creating a jeweled appearance. The mouth is large with prominent teeth, and the gill opening is a small circular pore behind the head.

Diet and feeding

Carnivorous. In captivity, feed frozen-thawed or fresh marine fish, shrimp, squid, and other meaty foods. Feed live food cautiously to avoid injuring the eel during feeding.
