Appearance

A striking blue-black ribbon-like moray eel with distinctive yellow or pale markings along the jaw and nostrils. Highly elongated body and a small mouth adapted for precise feeding; often displays two-tone coloration with darker dorsal regions.

Diet and feeding

In captivity, feed small live or frozen marine prey such as silversides, feeder fish, shrimp, and squid. Feed 2–3 times weekly; these eels have slow metabolisms and may go days between feeds in the wild.
