Appearance

Janss' Pipefish is a slender, elongated member of the Syngnathidae family with a tubular snout and segmented body. It displays a mottled brown and tan coloration with distinctive rings or bands along its body, and fine pectoral fins that aid in precise maneuvering. The species typically reaches about 7 inches in length and relies on camouflage within seagrass and coral branches.

Diet and feeding

Feed small live foods including copepods, amphipods, and other tiny crustaceans. Frozen enriched mysis shrimp or finely chopped preparations may be accepted with conditioning. Feed multiple times daily in small portions to meet high metabolic demands.
