Appearance

Small, slender dart-shaped fish with a pale blue or translucent body and distinctive yellow and blue striped markings on the tail. The flaglike tail fin is deeply forked and gives the species its common name.

Diet and feeding

Feed small meaty foods such as copepods, amphipods, mysis shrimp, and high-quality frozen planktonic fare. Feed 2–3 times daily in small portions. They will pick at the water column but may require target feeding in larger systems.
