Appearance
The Fire Dartfish has a slender body with vibrant red-orange coloration on the anterior half and white-cream coloration on the posterior half. It features elongated dorsal fin rays that are distinctly separated from the soft dorsal fin, and is named for its characteristic darting behavior along the substrate.
Diet and feeding
In captivity, feed small meaty foods such as copepods, amphipods, mysis shrimp, and high-quality frozen plankton multiple times daily. They require frequent feeding to meet their high metabolism; live foods and sinking preparations are preferred as they feed near or on the substrate.
