Appearance

Small, elongated goby with a cream to tan body marked by orange-red bands and spots. The head is distinctly flattened dorsally, and it typically displays a symbiotic relationship with pistol shrimp in the wild.

Diet and feeding

Feed small meaty foods including frozen mysis shrimp, small copepods, and finely chopped krill 2–3 times daily. In established reef aquaria with good microfauna populations, supplemental feeding may sustain the fish.

Origin and habitat

Indo-Pacific from the Red Sea to the Persian Gulf and eastward to Indonesia and the Philippines.
