Fish in the family Pomacentridae. Moderate care. Reef Safe.
Quick facts
Appearance
The Seychelles Clownfish is a small, stocky damselfish with a predominantly orange-red body, white face markings, and white banding on the fins. This species closely resembles the better-known Ocellaris Clownfish but is endemic to the Seychelles and rarely seen in the aquarium trade.
Diet and feeding
In captivity, feed a varied omnivorous diet including small crustaceans, high-quality pellets, frozen mysis shrimp, and vegetable matter like nori. Multiple small feedings daily (2–3 times) maintain optimal nutrition and behavior.
Difficulty and care for the Seychelles Clownfish
The Seychelles Clownfish is moderately difficult to keep. While hardy if established in proper conditions, the main challenge is obtaining a specimen—wild populations are protected and aquacultured individuals are extremely rare, making this species impractical for most hobbyists.
Common health issues
Marine ich, Fin Rot, Swim Bladder Disorder, White Spot Syndrome, Columnaris Disease
Origin and habitat
Endemic to the Seychelles Islands in the Indian Ocean, where it is found in coral reef habitats.
