Appearance
Syngnathus pelagicus is a slender, elongated pipefish with a tubular snout and segmented body armor. The species exhibits a mottled tan to olive-green coloration, often with darker bands, and blends well with Sargassum seaweed from which it derives its common name.
Diet and feeding
Feed small live or frozen copepods, amphipods, mysid shrimp, and other zooplankton. Multiple feedings daily are essential due to the species' high metabolic rate and small mouth.
