Pictus Blenny (Ecsenius pictus)
Fish in the family Blenniidae. Easy care. Reef Safe.
Quick facts
Appearance
A small blenny with a mottled brown and tan body covered with irregular dark spots and wavy markings. The fish has a blunt head, small cirri (whisker-like filaments) above the eyes, and a compressed body tapering toward the tail. Males often display more prominent coloration and may develop a slight nuchal hump.
Diet and feeding
Feed high-quality pellets, frozen mysis shrimp, and vegetable matter such as spirulina or nori sheets once to twice daily. The Pictus Blenny grazes opportunistically on algae and organic debris, so a well-established tank provides supplemental nutrition.

The Pictus Blenny is an excellent choice for beginner and intermediate aquarists. It is hardy, tolerates a range of stable water conditions, and requires only standard reef-aquarium care with adequate rockwork and a varied diet.
