Appearance

A small, stocky cardinalfish with a compressed lateral body. Predominantly ochre or tan coloration with distinctive darker vertical stripes or bands running along the body, and characteristic large eyes typical of nocturnal apogonids.

Diet and feeding

Feed small, meaty foods including mysis shrimp, copepods, and finely chopped fresh seafood. These planktivorous fish are most active at dusk and night, so feed in the evening or use foods that stay in the water column.
