Appearance
Anomalops katoptron is a small, dark-colored fish with a distinctive bioluminescent light organ below each eye. The body is elongated and compressed, with large eyes adapted to deep-water vision and a terminal mouth.
Diet and feeding
Flashlight fish are carnivorous planktivores in the wild, feeding on copepods and small crustaceans. In captivity, provide high-quality frozen foods including copepods, enriched brine shrimp, and small zooplankton preparations. Offer 1–2 times daily in small portions.

Origin and habitat
Indo-Pacific, primarily found in deep reef environments from the Red Sea to the central Pacific, occurring at depths of 200–1000 meters.

Nocturnal species with bioluminescent organs. Requires dim lighting and may be difficult to feed. Rare in the hobby.
