Ostracods are detritivores that feed on organic debris, biofilm, and decaying matter. They require no supplemental feeding in established aquariums with adequate biological load.

Worldwide in marine, brackish, and freshwater environments; found in reef ecosystems throughout tropical and temperate oceans.
