Appearance

Small jawfish with a pale cream to tan body heavily spotted with darker brown or red markings. Distinctive large mouth and elongated body adapted for burrowing; paired pectoral fins used to excavate and maintain burrows.

Diet and feeding

Feeds on small crustaceans, zooplankton, and mysis shrimp in the aquarium. Offer frozen mysis or similarly-sized live foods 1–2 times daily. May be reluctant feeders initially and require patience to acclimate.
