Appearance
A small blenny with a robust, slightly compressed body. The base coloration is tan to brown with distinctive reddish or orange streaks and spots running along the head and body. It has a large, rounded head with prominent eyes and fringed cirri (tentacle-like projections) above the eyes.
Diet and feeding
Offer a varied diet of mysis shrimp, small crustaceans, and herbivorous flake foods. This species is also an active grazer, picking at algae and biofilm on rocks. Feed once to twice daily in small portions.
Difficulty and care for the Red-Streaked Blenny
Moderately difficult; requires stable water conditions, live rock for grazing and shelter, and careful tank-mate selection. It can be territorial and aggressive toward similar blennies and small fish, but is generally reef-safe and will not harass corals.
