Appearance
Randall's Surgeonfish is a striking yellow tang with a deep blue or purple body coloration, contrasting sharply with a bright yellow dorsal and anal fin. The caudal (tail) fin is yellow with a blue rim. The species displays the characteristic surgeonfish body shape—laterally compressed and disc-like—with a venomous spine (scalpel-like projection) on either side of the caudal peduncle.
Diet and feeding
Feed high-quality herbivorous preparations including nori sheets, spirulina-based pellets, and blanched vegetables (zucchini, spinach). Supplement with occasional meaty foods like brine shrimp. Provide multiple daily feedings to support natural grazing behavior.
