Golden-yellow to orange body that can flush bright with a broken dark lateral band; develops warm rainbow tones when in breeding condition.

Keeper notes

One of the most peaceful Central American cichlids; mildly territorial when breeding but far less aggressive than convicts. Will eat shrimp. May nibble and uproot soft plants since it grazes algae. Good intro to New World cichlid keeping.
