Appearance
Males are blue-gray with orange-edged fins; females turn brilliant yellow with bold black 'panda' blotches on the flank and tail when in breeding condition.

Forms monogamous pairs (unlike most harem apistos) and the female is very aggressive when guarding fry. Territorial; provide caves and space. Will eat shrimp and fry. Needs soft acidic water to breed.
