Appearance
A medium-sized surgeonfish with a distinctly pale or whitish mouth and lips—the characteristic that gives the species its common name. The body is predominantly dark gray to brownish, with a compressed, disc-like shape typical of tangs. The caudal fin is yellow to orange, providing contrast to the darker body.
Diet and feeding
Primarily grazes on macroalgae and filamentous algae. Offer high-quality marine herbivore pellets, dried seaweed (nori), and regular fresh macroalgae. Feed 1-2 times daily to support their algae-grazing metabolism.
