Appearance

A small, elongated eel-like fish with a pale tan or yellowish body. The defining characteristic is a single dark spot or ocellus on the shoulder area behind the gill cover. The body is relatively streamlined with a pointed snout, and the dorsal and anal fins run nearly the entire length of the body.

Diet and feeding

Feeds on small crustaceans and benthic invertebrates in the wild. In captivity, offer finely chopped or small frozen foods such as mysis shrimp, copepods, and small amphipods. May require multiple small feedings daily and live foods initially to accept captive conditions.
