Appearance

Blenniidae chestnut has a flattened oval shape and attains a maximum length of about 10 cm. Its color varies from light brown to reddish-brown, with distinctive white blotches on its sides and a conspicuous black spot at the base of its dorsal fin.

Origin and habitat

The Chestnut Blenny (Blenniidae) is naturally found in the tropical waters of the western Atlantic Ocean, from Florida, U.S.A., through the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico, down to Brazil, including the coasts of Belize, Honduras, Cuba, Jamaica, and the Bahamas. This species inhabits shallow reef environments at depths ranging from 1 to 30 meters.
