Appearance

Blackspotted Sweetlips are deep-bodied fish with whitish-yellow coloration covered in numerous dark spots and stripes. Juveniles display bold yellow and white stripes that gradually transition to the spotted pattern of adults; adults retain a pale base color with distinctive dark spots on the head and body.

Diet and feeding

Feed a varied diet of meaty foods including frozen or live marine fish, shrimp, squid, and other small crustaceans. These are nocturnal hunters; feed primarily in the evening or when the tank is dimly lit.
