Appearance

A small, burrowing jawfish with tan to pale yellow body coloration crossed by dark brown or reddish bands. Distinguishing features include a distinctly enlarged lower jaw (macrognathous) and relatively large eyes positioned high on the head for surveillance from its burrow.
