The problem with well-kept records
If you log your reef faithfully, you end up with testing history in one place, feeding in another, dosing in a third, and maintenance in a fourth. Every record is accurate, and yet the story they tell together stays hidden, because reading it means hopping between five screens and holding the timeline in your head.
Tank Insights is our answer. It is a single interactive view that reads your existing records across modules and lays out what has been happening in your aquarium, without you having to dig for it.
One swipe away
From your tank dashboard, swipe left. That is the whole gesture. Tank Insights opens as a full page of cards, each one answering a question you would otherwise have to assemble by hand.
- A summary of recent activity across the whole tank
- How often you have been testing, and the latest recorded values
- Which parameters look stable and which are trending
- Feeding activity compared with the previous weeks
- Maintenance that was completed, deliberately paused, or is overdue
- Parameters whose data is getting stale and may deserve a fresh test
- Recorded actions that may be connected with later changes
Two layers: the story, then the evidence
Every card leads with a plain-language summary you can absorb at a glance. Expand it and the evidence appears underneath: the individual records, dates, sparkline trends, and comparisons that the summary was built from.
Parameter cards go one step further and open into the full history and analysis views, so a curiosity about alkalinity can become a proper look at the last month of readings in two taps.
Careful language, on purpose
A reef tank is a slow system with many hands on the wheel, and honest software should respect that. Tank Insights never claims that one action caused a change. It shows that one event was followed by another, or that records may be related, and leaves the reef keeping judgment where it belongs, with you.
A water change followed by a parameter shift is presented exactly that way: followed by, worth a look, possibly connected. Nothing more, and that restraint is deliberate.
Free for every reefer
Tank Insights is available to everyone, not just Premium users. The page is data-driven, so it shows sections for the records you actually keep. On the free plan that means your testing, stability, feeding, and freshness cards are all there from day one.
Premium connects more of the picture, folding dosing, maintenance, and equipment records into the same view. And in keeping with how Reef Trak has always worked, Premium is a single lifetime purchase. No subscription, ever.
What else is in 2.3.5
Tank Insights is the headline, but version 2.3.5 carries a set of quieter improvements across the app.
- Improved parameter tracking, including phosphorus placement and more consistent ICP trace element organization
- Freshwater GH and TDS visible through the Web Portal
- Aquarium records connect more consistently, with fewer duplicate activity entries
- Safer syncing, with new safeguards against deleted tanks returning unexpectedly
- Faster first launch and a fix for the photo cropping layout on smaller screens
Built on your records
Tank Insights only works because your records do. Every card is generated from the testing, feeding, dosing, and maintenance history you have already logged, which is one more reason consistent tracking pays off.
